Crisis Between Al-Hilal and Jorge Jesus Over Contract Termination
The Portuguese coach of Al-Hilal refuses to accept installment payments for his contract termination.
According to reports, Saudi media confirmed today that the issue of terminating cooperation with Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus has dominated the atmosphere within Al-Hilal’s board.
Al-Hilal has decided to terminate Jorge Jesus’s contract in recent hours, appointing Mohammed Al-Shalhoub as interim coach. The club is also close to reaching an agreement with a major international coach.
According to Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiah, Al-Hilal’s management is holding a meeting with Jesus and his representatives.
The newspaper noted that the goal of this meeting is to finalize an agreement for the termination of the remaining two months of the Portuguese coach’s contract after the decision was made to end cooperation with him.
However, the official account of the Al-Akhbariya network on X (formerly Twitter) reported that Jesus has rejected receiving his overdue salary in installments and demands full payment before his official dismissal by the Saudi club.
Saudi newspaper Al-Youm had previously confirmed that Al-Hilal would announce its decision to dismiss Jesus by Friday evening or Saturday morning at the latest.
Al-Hilal was eliminated from the AFC Champions League semifinals after a 3-1 defeat against Al-Ahli Jeddah and also exited the King’s Cup after losing to Al-Ittihad.
In the Saudi Pro League, Al-Hilal sits second in the table, six points behind leaders Al-Ittihad.
