Controversial Advice to Liverpool: Steal This Star from Arsenal!
Former Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann believes the club should move to sign Nico Williams.
According to reports, Mikel Arteta and Arsenal’s management have prioritized strengthening the team’s attack in the upcoming summer transfer window, as injuries to key players have impacted their Premier League title chances this season.
After Nico Williams’ impressive performance in Euro 2024, Arsenal made an unsuccessful attempt to sign the 22-year-old winger. However, they are expected to renew their efforts this summer. Reports suggest that Arsenal’s new sporting director, Andrea Berta, has already met with the player’s representatives to discuss a potential transfer. Williams has a €58 million release clause in his current contract.
However, Hamann believes Arsenal’s cautious transfer policy in recent years could open the door for his former club to sign the player. Hamann told the Daily Mail: “Regarding Nico Williams, Arsenal might back out due to the high price, as we know they are reluctant to overspend.
Arsenal signed Declan Rice but haven’t made any major signings since, otherwise they would have probably signed a winger by now. In my opinion, Liverpool’s priority should be signing a striker, but there’s no doubt Nico Williams is an exceptional player. He changes the game, creates chances out of nothing, and will be in high demand.
Winning the Premier League increases Liverpool’s chances of signing such a player because it’s one of football’s greatest honors. Liverpool have a good chance of signing him, but Williams will undoubtedly have no shortage of suitors.”
