Absence in the Championship Gathering: Neuer Celebrates with Cooking!
Manuel Neuer celebrated Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga championship in a unique way.
Bayern Munich once again became champions of Germany, celebrating their 34th Bundesliga title—this time in a restaurant—as Leverkusen’s draw against Freiburg confirmed Bayern’s victory.
While Bayern stars like Eric Dier, Joshua Kimmich, Harry Kane, Serge Gnabry, and coach Vincent Kompany gathered at a luxurious restaurant to watch Leverkusen’s match against Freiburg and begin their celebration, one person was missing: Manuel Neuer!
The Bayern goalkeeper celebrated the championship differently. Minutes after the title was confirmed, Neuer posted a picture from his kitchen on social media, showing him holding a pan of asparagus risotto, fist-pumping with a smile. He captioned the photo: “Championship celebration (with asparagus risotto)!”
Next Saturday, after the match against Gladbach, Neuer will lift the Bundesliga trophy. The German Football League announced on Sunday that the trophy will be awarded to Bayern next week.
Originally, Bayern’s plan was to win in Leipzig, then take a private flight to Ibiza for a two-day celebration. However, just before the match, Max Eberl, the club’s sporting director, canceled the trip, and the team failed to secure the title in Leipzig. Still, Leverkusen’s slip-up allowed Bayern to celebrate another championship.
