    Bernal's Return: Barcelona Celebrates

The golden generation from La Masia has made its way to Barcelona’s first team. Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí are now key players, while others like Héctor Fort, Casadó, and Gerard Martín are also shining. Among them was Marc Bernal, whose role for this season was not yet fully defined. The young midfielder started the season convincingly under Hans-Dieter Flick but suffered an injury on August 27 against Rayo Vallecano at Vallecas Stadium.

    Marc Bernal injury

During extra time, Bernal challenged for the ball with Isi Palazón. Palazón passed, and Bernal planted his left foot on the grass, but due to an accidental collision with the opponent and his own movement, he unfortunately tore his left ACL and suffered damage to the external meniscus. On September 9, Bernal underwent surgery by Dr. Monlau, and the club predicted a 12-month recovery period—a year away from the pitch.

    Bernal's recovery

His recovery progressed week by week until April 27, reaching eight months. Now, as the ninth month passes, Bernal sees light at the end of the tunnel.

In this regard, Barcelona released a video to show how he is progressing in this final phase of his recovery.

    Bernal training

The midfielder is now training with other injured players like Balde and Casadó, as well as the coaching staff. He has started running exercises, rhythm changes, and ball work.

    Bernal on the field

Although Bernal has touched the ball again on the training ground at Sant Joan Despí, there is no rush for his return, and Flick will not pressure him. The midfielder will not return to La Liga action this season and will begin his quest to reclaim his place in the 2025-26 preseason, after a vacation where he will undoubtedly continue working on his fitness.
