Gael Clichy, former Arsenal defender, warned about the challenges his former team faces against Paris Saint-Germain in an interview with RMC.

According to “Varzesh3,” the Gunners lost the first leg 1-0 to PSG and must now work hard to overturn the result at Parc des Princes on Wednesday to reach the UEFA Champions League final.

Clichy said: “Arsenal must give everything to defeat Paris Saint-Germain. PSG’s performance doesn’t surprise me because we know Luis Enrique isn’t afraid to make bold decisions. Today, we see a team that has been fully in control since the start of the season.”

Clichy, who wore the Arsenal shirt for eight seasons, added: “Luis Enrique deserves congratulations, but I’m not surprised at all. PSG was very, very good in the first leg, and the surprising thing is that they still have room for improvement. Am I disappointed with Arsenal? Yes, because I think they can always offer more than this. In the first leg, I thought they were too passive. Against a team like PSG, you have to impose yourself and create problems for them to get anything done.”

Arsenal’s recent performances have not been encouraging. Mikel Arteta’s team lost 2-1 to Bournemouth and has only won one of their last five league games: “Arsenal has had two fantastic seasons with this same team, and now we can ask if they have a slight mental energy deficit on the field. This fatigue is both physical and mental. Arsenal must appear very strong. Teams that win trophies are those that dominate games, but Arsenal did not dominate PSG in the first leg. They must double their performance level because otherwise, their elimination is certain.”
