Jamie Carragher:
Arnold Made Liverpool Fans Trust No One
Jamie Carragher, Liverpool legend, believes Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure has made the fans lose trust in any player.
According to reports, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Liverpool’s right-back, has officially announced the end of his long tenure at Anfield. Unlike Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, there will be no contract extension with the Reds at the end of the season.
Carragher, Liverpool’s legendary defender, believes this transfer will completely change the fans’ perception of the England international. Carragher told The Telegraph: “Players who honestly say they don’t want to play for other clubs are more beloved by the fans.
If the fans’ perception of homegrown talents like Arnold changes, they will naturally be disappointed. Arnold’s departure has made Liverpool’s quest for a 21st Premier League title and a seventh Champions League trophy harder, and this will certainly hurt the fans. With Monday’s statement, the unconditional support Arnold had from the fans during his full commitment to the club has completely vanished, and Liverpool fans will no longer trust any player.”
Arnold joined Liverpool’s first team in 2016 and has played in 257 Premier League matches, scoring 18 goals. He is now expected to join Real Madrid at the start of the next season.
