Wayne Rooney:
Manchester United Still Lack Tactics Under Amorim!
Wayne Rooney criticized the performance of Rubén Amorim’s squad against Brentford, calling Manchester United’s display “tactically lacking.”
According to reports, Manchester United suffered a 4-3 defeat against Brentford in the 35th round of the Premier League, leaving Amorim’s side in 15th place with 39 points.
Despite United’s strong performances in the Europa League and their proximity to the final, former star Wayne Rooney believes Amorim and his team should not sacrifice Premier League matches for European success.
Rooney told the Daily Mail: “Even if they win the Europa League, we cannot forget United’s disappointing season. Reaching the final is just a temporary cover-up for the team’s struggles.”
Rooney further criticized United’s style of play: “Their performance against Brentford was far from expectations. The team seemed to lack a clear tactical approach. If you’re a coach, you must know the basics of your system. When playing with three defenders, the wing-backs must mark the opposition’s wide players, but we didn’t see that from United.
They placed a 17-year-old striker up front and relied solely on long balls, which didn’t work. The lack of movement and technical awareness was evident. Now, we must accept that we’re losing Premier League matches while focusing on the Europa League. Our attention must turn to Thursday’s match against Athletic Bilbao.”
