Antonio Cassano:
Inter Should Have Scored Six Goals Against Barcelona!
Antonio Cassano, former Italian football star, believes Inter had a great chance to win against Barcelona.
The excitement of the second leg between Inter Milan and Barcelona will dominate Milan. The UEFA Champions League semi-final has created high expectations due to the spectacular first leg, and Cassano believes Inter will be the better team but warns that if they don’t show courage, they might miss the chance to reach the final.
He said on the program Viva el Fútbol: “Inter has the advantage because they are playing at home, and the atmosphere at San Siro will be hellish. They are very strong at home and will also set record revenues. Inter was weak in the first leg but scored two goals from set pieces. Thuram scored a great goal after 30 seconds. They scored three goals. Yes, but they could have scored six. The philosophy must be based on courage to advance.”
Cassano clearly stated that if Inter plays defensively, they will be in trouble: “I want to say something clear: Inzaghi’s assistant gave an interesting answer a few days ago when asked about my comments that if Inter only wins the Champions League, they have failed this season. The reason for my statement is: They lost three Scudettos with the strongest possible team. Di Matteo also won the Champions League, Mourinho parked the bus in front of the goal. The European Cup is a special tournament, but Inter should have done more this season.
Conte did something extraordinary with Napoli. Spalletti had a strong team, but in January, their best player left, and there was no replacement. Neres was also absent for two months due to injury. What Conte did is beyond Spalletti’s miracle. Inter has an excellent team and deep squad, but they might lose Serie A. They have focused all their attention on the Champions League.”
