Guti Mocks Global Conspiracy Against Barcelona
‘You Conceded Seven Goals and Expected the Final!’
Guti analyzed Barcelona’s defeat against Inter in the Champions League and engaged in a heated debate with journalist Jordi Martí.
Guti, a former Real Madrid player from 1995 to 2010, discussed Barcelona’s elimination from the Champions League in the ‘El Chiringuito’ program. When Jordi Martí accused referee Szymon Marciniak of favoring Real Madrid, Guti responded sarcastically.
Martí said: “This is another historic UEFA scandal, appointing a referee who is clearly a Madridista. Coincidentally, the VAR referee was the same one who eliminated us two seasons ago. Gianni Infantino (FIFA president) also declared himself an Inter fan.”
Martí insisted: “They didn’t let us qualify,” pointing to alleged errors by Marciniak, including a penalty on Lamine Yamal and a foul on Gerard Martín in the 3-3 equalizer.
Guti replied mockingly: “Today, there was a global conspiracy against Barça. But the truth is, Inter scored seven goals against you, and Barça scored six.” He added sarcastically, “You conceded seven and still expected the final? Now you have to digest this loss. Like every year. It’s over, no problem. Just another elimination.”
Martí fired back: “Congratulations to José (Guti) and all Madridistas. Today, you won your first trophy of the season. You thought you’d win seven, but for now, you’ve only won one—Barça not reaching the Champions League final.”
Guti also analyzed Barcelona’s performance under Hansi Flick: “Barça was very disorganized in the first half and not only conceded two goals but was completely under Inter’s pressure. Barça created no chances except when the ball reached Lamine. It’s true they played well in the first 15 minutes of the second half, and Inter hesitated.”
He added: “Ronald Araújo’s mistake destroyed Barça, a team that has been like this all season. They concede too many goals. When you concede four away goals, reaching the final is very difficult.”
Guti emphasized Barcelona’s defensive weakness: “They’ve always been like heads or tails. Almost always heads, but this time it was tails against Inter. Attacking and scoring is good, but a team that wants to reach the final must concede fewer goals. Even with six goals in the semi-finals, you couldn’t reach the Champions League final. Barça has been playing with fire all season.”
