Kounde: I Don’t Know Why Lewandowski Plays!

According to the “Barca Reservat” podcast from Catalan radio, Jules Kounde was surprised by Robert Lewandowski’s presence against Inter.

Kounde: I Don't Know Why Lewandowski Plays!

Jules Kounde unexpectedly traveled to Giuseppe Meazza in Milan to watch the Inter vs. Barcelona match in person. Trying to remain incognito by wearing a hoodie, he was identified during his round-trip flight with regular airlines, just like an ordinary fan.

Kounde sat in the Meazza stands, and the Barca Reservat program revealed some of his statements during the game. The player, sitting near Joao Felix, was surprised by one of Hansi Flick’s decisions.

Flick sent Lewandowski onto the field in extra time, just before Inter’s equalizing goal. Kounde looked at this decision in surprise, as, in his opinion, the Polish striker was not yet in playing condition after his muscle injury.

Kounde reportedly reacted like this: “I don’t know why Lewandowski is playing? He shouldn’t be playing in this condition.” Time proved Kounde right, as Lewandowski was barely visible in extra time and failed to create any clear goal-scoring opportunities.

But this wasn’t the only incident in the Meazza stands. According to the same program, Joan Laporta, Barcelona’s president, left the stadium upset due to Inter’s inappropriate treatment of the club.

Laporta and the board were placed among ordinary spectators in the stadium stands instead of a designated VIP section. The Barcelona delegation, which included three rows of executives, including Deco and Bojan Krkic from the sports management team, had to endure insults from Inter fans.

Barca Reservat reported: “Inter fans kept turning around and insulting Laporta.” This also explains Laporta’s emotional reactions seen on TV, where he hugged his board colleagues during Barcelona’s goal celebrations.

The podcast also explained that Laporta’s frustration was not only with Inter but also with the referee, Marciniak, whose performance, contrary to Barcelona’s interests, was not entirely surprising to the president.
