Capello: Enrique is not as arrogant as Flick
Fabio Capello, the renowned Italian coach, once again criticized Hans-Dieter Flick for his risky approach in game tactics.
According to reports, Capello, who currently works as a commentator for Sky and writes for La Gazzetta dello Sport, reiterated his criticism of Flick in his latest column.
Capello is particularly dissatisfied with Barcelona’s defensive weaknesses under Flick. This time, he compared Flick to Luis Enrique, a comparison made after PSG’s victory over Arsenal.
Capello said: “In the semifinals, Inzaghi made good use of opportunities, while Flick continued with man-to-man defense even one minute before the end of the game. This is somewhat arrogant and presumptuous… I think Luis Enrique is a prepared and mature coach; he has built a team according to his philosophy, full of excellent players. Unlike Barcelona, he doesn’t have an absolute star like Lamine Yamal, a player around whom the entire team revolves. Perhaps I can mention Ousmane Dembélé because he stands out more, but all of PSG’s main players are excellent and equally important.”
Analysis of Inter’s Situation
Capello then evaluated Inter Milan, saying: “Inter has reached the final with confidence and high quality. They have shown significant improvement in recent matches against Bayern Munich and Barcelona, both in confidence and scoring ability. They have demonstrated the right mindset and high concentration.”
Praise for the Finalists
The experienced coach then predicted the UEFA Champions League final: “I think we will have a balanced final, but everything starts from midfield. In the match against Barcelona, Inzaghi’s midfield was under a lot of pressure, but they performed well on Tuesday.”
Capello said about the Champions League final: “We will have an unpredictable final. There is no home or away game; no host fans putting pressure, nor a stadium to conquer on rival soil, so we will have an open final. I am confident in Inter’s midfield, although they don’t shine as much at the end of the season. The presence of Lautaro and Thuram in the attack is also very important.”
He also said about PSG: “There is a lot of creativity in this team, with players like Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia… All of them have dribbling ability, and if you don’t face them at their best, they can punish you. Of course, Marquinhos also plays a key role in defense; he guides his teammates very well.”
