Ronald Araujo Responds to Fan Abuse: I Won’t Hide!
Ronald Araujo, Barcelona’s star defender, has reacted to the controversy following the match against Inter Milan and the attacks from fans.
Following Barcelona’s defeat against Inter Milan and their bitter elimination from the UEFA Champions League, Ronald Araujo faced an unprecedented wave of criticism and insults from fans. Many angry Barcelona supporters consider him one of the main reasons for this failure.
The attacks were so severe that the Uruguayan defender was forced to disable comments on his Instagram page. Araujo was not in the starting lineup and came on in the second half to replace Inigo Martinez, but his poor performance and his mistake in marking Francesco Acerbi, which led to the equalizing goal in the dying moments, angered many fans.
However, Araujo responded to the situation in an Instagram post, writing:“I accept this situation and acknowledge it. I have never been someone who hides, and I never will be. The elimination is painful, but this is not the end of the story.
We tried, we fought, and we gave everything in a very tough battle. It wasn’t enough, and that’s disappointing. But at the same time, I also feel proud. Proud of this team, my teammates, our club’s badge, and all the fans who stood by us on this journey. Throughout 2025, we showed what a winning mentality we have—both as a team and as fans. El Clasico is coming, and we will give our all. We are Barça, and we will come back stronger.”
