Rodrygo’s Final Weeks
Real Madrid’s Expensive Star on the Brink of Collapse!
Rodrygo’s situation at Real Madrid has reached a critical point, and his future remains uncertain.
According to reports, the Brazilian star, who recently recovered from the flu, has only four matches left, including El Clásico, to turn his declining form around. However, it appears he will remain on the bench in El Clásico as Arda Güler has taken his place. Güler is the latest obstacle Rodrygo has faced in this difficult season.
Rodrygo, who was once a key player for Carlo Ancelotti, has gradually lost his position. He has scored only one goal in his last 21 matches and was substituted at halftime in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona after a poor performance. The flu also kept him out of the squad at an unfortunate time, allowing Güler to solidify his place.
Now, with the presence of stars like Vinícius Júnior, Kylian Mbappé, and Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo’s chances of reclaiming his starting spot have diminished. These three players, who hold high sporting and financial value for Real Madrid, along with Vinícius’s contract extension until 2030, shape the club’s future project. Ancelotti’s attempts to use all four players simultaneously have failed, and Güler’s presence in midfield has brought better balance to the team.
From a strategic perspective, Rodrygo, with a contract until 2028, is an attractive option for sale. His market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €100 million, though it has dropped by €10 million compared to the past and may decline further if his form continues to falter. Real Madrid, with players like Federico Valverde (€130 million), Mbappé (€170 million), Bellingham (€180 million), and Vinícius (€200 million), is in a strong financial position. However, the longer Rodrygo remains out of form, the lower his transfer value will be.
On the other hand, Rodrygo himself, aware of Mbappé’s arrival, previously hinted at a possible departure: “Anything is possible. I have a contract, but the years I’ve spent here have been enjoyable.” Although he later clarified his comments, his dissatisfaction is evident.
Rodrygo must react before the Club World Cup to retain his place. The decision of Xabi Alonso, the likely next manager, and his plans for the upcoming season will also play a crucial role in Rodrygo’s future. However, Güler’s emergence and the intense competition in the attack make it difficult for Rodrygo to remain a regular starter. If he fails to regain his position, a summer sale is the most probable scenario, especially given the strong market interest. His situation depends on his performance and, of course, Real Madrid’s strategic decisions.
