According to reports, Jules Koundé strongly denied claims made by Catalan radio about his reaction to Robert Lewandowski’s substitution. The French defender, who was sidelined due to a hamstring injury, traveled privately to Milan to support his team from the stands.

Catalan radio had alleged that Koundé expressed surprise at Hans-Dieter Flick’s decision to bring on Lewandowski in the 91st minute, quoting him as saying: “I don’t know why he’s playing, he shouldn’t be playing in this condition.”

Koundé immediately responded on X, vehemently denying these claims: “Making up quotes and storytelling is one thing, but this is not journalism. Publishing information without verifying its accuracy is just as unprofessional. If you like, you can publish this tweet too.”

With this message, the French national team defender made it clear that he not only did not criticize Lewandowski but also did not question Flick’s decision to use the Polish striker in the closing minutes of the match against Inter Milan.
