According to reports, the highly anticipated El Clásico match between Barcelona and Real Madrid, as part of La Liga, will take place on Sunday at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium. Due to the high stakes and large number of spectators, the match will be under strict security measures.

A report from La Liga states that over 500 security personnel will be present inside and around the stadium to ensure complete safety. These forces will include members of the Spanish police, Barcelona’s urban guard, and other security entities. La Liga’s security director stated: “Planning for an El Clásico is similar to other matches but will involve heightened security measures.”

A final meeting between security forces and event organizers will be held on Friday to review details regarding match logistics and scheduling. Special security arrangements have been made based on the stadium’s capacity (50,000) and the movement of visiting fans. However, the presence of extremist Real Madrid fans is prohibited, and only 300 Real Madrid supporters will be allowed into the stadium.

La Liga further explained: “If a fan wearing a Real Madrid jersey is seen in the Barcelona fan section or vice versa, it could cause tension. We must identify and relocate them. In a match with this level of risk, we cannot allow fans to carry objects that could lead to clashes. Everything must be controlled with respect.”

Interestingly, this season has seen only one reported fan altercation in domestic matches, which occurred during the Córdoba vs. Almería match on January 12, 2025. According to La Liga, this season has had the fewest fan incidents since the 2015-16 season.
