The Man Who Led Tractor's Elimination Gets Sacked!

According to “Varzesh3,” informed sources told Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper that Al-Taawoun Club in Saudi Arabia has begun negotiations to sign new players and is also considering replacements for Mohamed Al-Abdali, the team’s current head coach. Al-Abdali was appointed in February as the successor to Rodolfo Arruabarrena.

Among the candidates being considered by Al-Taawoun to lead the team next season are two Romanian coaches, Cosmin Contra and Eduard Iordănescu. However, sources from Al-Sharq Al-Awsat believe Contra is the more likely choice, especially given the presence of his former assistant in Al-Abdali’s current coaching staff.

Contra previously managed Al-Ittihad in 30 matches and then Damac in 61 matches. He left Damac after a 2-2 draw against Al-Fayha in the 13th round of the Saudi Pro League—a decision made due to poor results and a negative atmosphere within the team. During his time at Damac, Contra repeatedly criticized delayed payments, refereeing decisions, and player mistakes.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Al-Abdali traveled to Iran two months ago to lead his team against Tractor. Despite a weak performance in the first leg, they managed to eliminate Tractor.

However, a defeat against Al-Sharjah and failure to advance to the Asian final led the club’s management to dismiss the coach. Given their struggles in league competitions, they are now considering appointing a new head coach.
