Two surprise teams of Asia will face each other tomorrow in Phnom Penh.
According to “Varzesh3”, the final match of the 2024-2025 AFC Challenge Cup, which is held among developing and lower-level football nations, will take place on Saturday at the Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where Turkmenistan’s Arcadağ will face Cambodia’s Borey Khan Ritthy Seyha.
Arcadağ, the 2023 Turkmenistan League champions, have reached the final in their first continental appearance and hope to end this experience memorably by winning the title. The team topped Group B with 6 points from three matches, defeating Maziya Sports of the Maldives 2-1 and Abdysh-Ata of Kyrgyzstan 2-0, while losing only to Kuwait’s Al-Arabi 3-2. In the quarterfinals, Arcadağ eliminated India’s East Bengal 3-1 on aggregate and then defeated Al-Arabi 3-2 over two legs to reach the final.
On the other side, Borey Khan Ritthy Seyha, the 2023-2024 Cambodian League champions, enter this crucial match with the motivation of leveraging home advantage. They advanced from Group C with 4 points from two matches, defeating Mongolia’s Falcons 2-1 but losing to Indonesia’s Madura United 2-1. In the quarterfinals, they overcame Myanmar’s Shan United 7-4 on aggregate and then defeated Madura United again, this time 6-3 on aggregate, to secure their place in the final.
This match is a clash between an ambitious newcomer from Central Asia and an energetic team from Southeast Asia, eager to stand atop the AFC Challenge Cup with the support of their fans.
