I Need Goals for the Golden Boot, but Carrasco Doesn’t!
Hamdallah: Critics of Ronaldo Know Nothing About Football
The Moroccan striker says he will do anything to break the record of the top scorer in Saudi Arabian football history.
According to reports, Abderrazak Hamdallah, the Moroccan striker of Al-Shabab, once again spoke about his time in the Saudi Pro League and defended Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese captain of Al-Nassr.
In an interview with a TV program, he said: “I decided to leave Al-Ittihad with dignity and respect so that what happened to me at Al-Nassr wouldn’t repeat itself. I also wanted to relieve the pressure on the club’s management, who didn’t want to let me go themselves.”
Hamdallah added: “The club’s officials called me and said they didn’t intend to terminate my contract, but the conditions would change. So, I decided to leave so I could play for a team where I would be a starter.”
Regarding his conflict with teammate Yannick Carrasco, he said: “I don’t know who the primary penalty taker was at the start of the season, but recently, it’s been me. I need to score goals to compete with Omar Al-Somah, and everyone should help me because these goals make a difference. Carrasco scoring goals doesn’t benefit him much.”
He continued: “I don’t pay attention to criticism. If I break the record for the league’s all-time top scorer, I’ll tell the critics: ‘That selfish guy sends his regards!'”
Hamdallah emphasized: “I want to break Al-Somah’s record. I was born to compete, and I can surpass him. I like and respect Al-Somah. Our rivalry is healthy. My goal is also to win the league’s Golden Boot.”
Responding to those who want Ronaldo to leave, he said: “These people don’t understand football. He’s the league’s top scorer—what more do they want? Whatever problems exist at Al-Nassr, it’s not Ronaldo’s fault. He’s a global player who does things others can’t. I hope he stays in Saudi Arabia.”
He also said: “But you can’t compare Ronaldo to Messi. Messi is far above everyone else, and Ronaldo comes after him. I’m one of Ronaldo’s fans.”
Hamdallah concluded: “I agree with Ronaldo that the Saudi Pro League is better than Ligue 1. This league is very competitive, and if it continues like this, it will become one of the best in the world.”
