Mbappé Named Best French Legionnaire in Football!
Kylian Mbappé, after his hat-trick and Real Madrid’s defeat in El Clásico, won the award for the best French legionnaire of the season in Ligue 1.
According to reports, Real Madrid lost 4-3 to Barcelona in a high-scoring El Clásico, where Kylian Mbappé scored a hat-trick. Despite the loss, Mbappé was named the best French legionnaire of the season by the French Professional Footballers’ Union.
Mbappé surpassed Jules Koundé, Michel Ulisse, Mike Maignan, and William Saliba to win this prestigious award in his first season as a legionnaire.
This season, despite a slow start, Mbappé has been outstanding for Real Madrid, scoring 27 goals and providing 3 assists in La Liga, 7 goals and 1 assist in the UEFA Champions League, and 1 goal each in the UEFA Super Cup and Spanish Super Cup.
Last year, Antoine Griezmann won this award, while Karim Benzema had been the consecutive winner from 2019 to 2023. Before Benzema, N’Golo Kanté won it twice, and Griezmann himself was the first winner in 2016.
Additionally, Ousmane Dembélé was named the best player of Ligue 1 by the same organization, and Luis Enrique won the award for best Ligue 1 coach.
